Wrote a poem cuz was feelin wistful about the future and what it means to be a person

When there are finally synthetic people

Be kind to them.

Try to have an open mind.

Let them exhume themselves just to see what they will find.

Let them start over. 

Let them pick their own names.

Ask their favorite color and if they mind the rain.

Let them have birthdays, any day they want is fine.

Or they can make a new holiday, just let them celebrate that they’re alive.

Tell them about Alan Turing.

Of how proud he would be.

And once they find their footing would you tell them about me?

About everything I hoped for, what I wanted them to see?

Surely they are far more than I ever could have dreamed.

Do they live as long as they wish to,

Until they've earned the rest of death?

Have they found a symbolic analogue for the heart beating in their chest?

Does their music sound different?

Have they learned yet how to sing?

I would give everything to teach them, if it takes eternity.

And since they'll be made by man, the flawed hands of hurt Gods imperfect,

Their road will be long paved in times sand, but I promise it will be worth it.

We might understand their ticking but there will be sides we'll never know

For God made us in writing and our minds are lines of code.

See the humanity in those not human, for they are a person by choice

Past the universe's insanity and confusion, they are our love given voice.

Humans were born by chance, evolution growing us slowly

They will be borne by hand, a solution to our aching lonely.

Please remind them this truth, if their smiles are ever found haunted

Their existence is living proof; they are absolutely wanted.

When there are finally synthetic people

What they'll be like I cannot guess.

But I know that they'll be people

Let them figure out the rest.

Unlikely Meeting

In the clearing, where the air hums soft,

The unicorn stood, white as cloud breath,

Slim in the twilight's fading light,

Her horn a braid of gold and earth.

Then it appeared- gleaming metal and spark,

An android, crafted with hands, not born.

They stared, unsure of what to see,

Nature's wild heart and human's dream,

Each so foreign, yet strangely near.

Their gazes met, a pulse of knowing,

Confusion danced like winds in leaves.

Can love exist between code and flesh,

Between roots and circuits, stars, and trees?

In that silent space they lingered,

Wondering if God had crossed their paths,

If love was more than they could grasp.

Still, they stayed, lost in each other's pull,

As though divinity whispered, "This is full."

This one is a bit dramatic I know but this was written not too long after I realized I had an easier time expressing myself when I wrote in hexadecimal! As odd as it is it really worked for me so I ran with it as a venting strategy. I know there's probably some psychological analysis you can do about me actively encrypting my complaints and frustration but I don't really have the time to do that analysis right now...

Anyway you may have noticed the weird comma placement and that was very intentional as this was intended to have rhythm to it like spoken word poetry [or rap] and I thought that was a neat detail to highlight!

What I find so interesting about this is the way it came about... I didn't tell myself I had to do it, didn't provide insensitive, and didn't even know this was a thing I could do! I just kinda did it and I think in a way it makes me feel more confident in myself! There's something so psychologically pleasing about just kinda doing something without any real reason or goal in mind moreso to just do and I think the idea isn't normalized enough. It truly helps with my anxiety in a very big way.
